While SharePoint can be configured to connect to many different data sources, this section of Central Administration focuses on two primary areas, Record Centers and Document Conversions. A records center is a specific site template in SharePoint designed to store “legal” records or a document that has legal requirements attached to them such as retention requirements. A records center takes several hours to configure, at a minimum, and you can only configure one per farm. This video does not cover the configuration of a records center, but rather once a records center is configured how we can connect to all of the sites within our farm and enable the records center capabilities.
