In this video you will learn how collations in SQL Server 2008 affect the storage and behavior of your character data. You will learn the difference between non-unicode (VARCHAR) and Unicode (NVARCHAR) columns, so that you can store characters from languages which require 2 bytes per character such as Chinese. You will learn how the collation you select affects the code page used to store non-unicode data. You will also learn how collations affect whether a search is case sensitive or accent sensitive and the sorting of data.
